At Abdallah & Associates Dental and Implant center, we are tremendous proponents of preventive care. After all, maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the things you can do to keep your gums healthy. Good oral hygiene requires both professional and personal care
The healthy gum or gingival as the area surrounding the neck of the tooth as also known has a firm texture and is salmon pink in colour. Bleeding in this region is usually related to one of two common dental problems – gingivitis or periodontitis- although both these inflammatory gum diseases can be present without bleeding.
Flossing is recommended to clean between teeth by moving the floss up and down against each tooth and between the tooth and gum as high or as low as it will comfortably go under the gum line.
Brushing your teeth in the normal way is recommended by the periodontist and this involves paying special attention to the area where your gum and teeth meet. Each tooth has 5 separate surfaces that need cleaning.
For healthier gums, consider using mouth washes for completing your brushing and flossing. Mouth washes flow in between your teeth and along the gum lines reaching all the places you may miss while brushing alone.
Desensitizers are always used by the dentist in the clinic to achieve this. After the diagnosis, the dentist gives the patient the best recommendations.
